Former “The Mandalorian” star Gina Carano said in a new interview that Disney and Lucasfilm bullied her before her exit from “Star Wars.”
What’s going on?
Carano recently sat down with The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro for an interview on “The Ben Shapiro Show” to talk about her recent “Star Wars” exit.
- “I’ve been through so much, and I’ve seen so much now, clearly, of the bullying that’s been taking place, and I saw it before,” she said in the interview, according to Deadline. “I’m not the only one that’s ever been bullied by this company, and I know that so deeply.”
She then cited an anonymous “friend” who also suffered backlash from the company, according to Yahoo! Entertainment.
- “I could share a story and it would turn things around in the media, but I can’t do that,” she told Shapiro. “It would be selling out a friend that I don’t really have the same views as, but I’m not going to sell out somebody to take the attention off me. If that person says something about how hard I went to bat for that person … it would change things, but everybody’s afraid of losing their job.”
What happened between Disney and Gina Carano?
Earlier in February, Lucasfilm cut ties with Carano after she shared an Instagram photo post on her Instagram story that compared Jewish people being attacked in the streets during the Nazi Germany era to how people in America are treated because of their political beliefs, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carano had been warned by Lucasfilm multiple times about her social media posts — which often focused on political issues, including the COVID-19 vaccine and face mask mandates — before her exit, according to the report.
- In fact, Carano was going to be a featured actress among new “Star Wars” projects before the company decided to drop her, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
So what’s next?
Interestingly, Carano will be teaming with Shapiro’s The Daily Wire for a new movie project, as I wrote for the Deseret News. It’s no surprise Shapiro got an early interview with her.
