We’ve rounded up 10 songs by Latin artists and bands that span the realm of emo, pop punk, alternative and more. These should get you acquainted with some of the most interesting acts in Latin music right now.
Bad Bunny – “YO VISTO ASÍ”
(embed)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEWZ53E1okE(/embed)Bad Bunny has become one of the biggest names in Latin music and is primarily defined as a reggaeton artist. But that label no longer seems to encapsulate everything that Bad Bunny is, especially after his latest album, El ÚLTIMO TOUR DEL MUNDO. With it, he plays even more with rock and punk influences. In “YO VISTO ASÍ,” the Puerto Rican musician defends dressing however he wants and calls people out for criticizing his unique sense of style.
Camiches – “Espero Nadie Ocupe Mi Lugar”
(embed)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37zdYsA8HDI(/embed)This track by Mexican alt-rock band Camiches is a classic pop-punk anthem about a romance filled with deceit, confusion and messy feelings. The song comes from the band’s 2016 record, El Bálsamo para los Sabios y los Buenos Perdedores. The album is full of heavy guitar riffs and emotional, from-the-gut vocals that are the perfect combination of catchy and heartfelt.
Aurum – “Te Voy a Perder”
(embed)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3AYZovxDxI(/embed)This emo track by Mexican group Aurum sounds like a Spanish version of a song by American Football or Taking Back Sunday. The instrumental is intoxicating and matches perfectly with its lyrics about losing someone. It begs you to sing, and probably cry, along to it.
Tungas – “Brindemos”
(embed)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwZwT3fmgeE(/embed)This Tungas track is over a decade old, but it’s an anthem in the Mexican punk scene. So if you haven’t heard it, it’s about time. The song acts as an ode to life, the good and the bad. Even if you’re listening to it by yourself, its energy makes you feel like you’re in a crowded music hall, taking in everything around you.
Say Ocean – “Amnesia”
If you’re looking for something a little heavier, Say Ocean are the perfect pick. This band exude punk through and through, which fans feel completely in “Amnesia.” The vocals are gritty in the best way possible, and the vibe of the song makes you want to mosh. The lyrics focus on the feeling of someone letting you down. So it’s best to listen to this one while remembering all the times you felt unfairly burned.
Abril 88 – “Un Año”
This Abril 88 track is one of those gushy love songs that you can’t help but cherish, and the beat also makes you want to jam out along with it. The Mexican pop-punk band released the track in 2019 and shared their new album, Un Poco de Ti, in 2020.
K93 – “K93”
If you’re looking for a new favorite punk-rock group, look no further than Colombia’s K93. This track will wear you out by the end in a good way, and if you’re singing along, you’ll lose your voice, guaranteed. It’s a badass track and a must-add to your punk playlist.
Adeline – “Te Voy a Tener”
Adeline’s sound is reminiscent of the early days of All Time Low or Mayday Parade, bringing us back to Warped Tour in a way that’s all their own. “Te Voy a Tener” showcases the band’s strength in making songs that you can’t help but sing along to. They’re so catchy, but they still have a lot of raw passion behind it.
Allison – “Frágil”
(embed)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGKQPZhqTnQ(/embed)The Grammy-nominated Allison are vets in both the punk and alt scene. “Frágil” is one of the Mexican band’s most popular anthems from back in 2006. But we suggest listening to any of their records that span almost two decades to become acquainted with these pop-punk superstars.
Edca – “Mi Mejor Historia (Canseco)”
Singer-songwriter Edca made the love song that describes every couple who’s traveled a rocky road to get together. “Mi Mejor Historia (Canseco)” keeps its depth while remaining something that you want to sing along to, with expert instrumental elements in this guitar-heavy track.
