Top 8 Stealth Games Of 2021

Stealth games can require some attention to detail and patience. In this list, we’re going to showcase the best stealth games that are slated to come out before 2022 hits. Check out our picks for the top stealth games of 2021 down below.

#8 Little Nightmares 2

Little Nightmares was a massive platformer hit with survival horror elements scattered throughout. Overall, the game follows a young girl named Six who is tasked with escaping a place known as the Maw. During The Game Awards 2019, we got the reveal of a sequel and we’re set in seeing Little Nightmares 2 release this February. We can expect the same overall gameplay elements and mechanics. Likewise we know that the game will follow a new protagonist.

After Six escapes the Maw, players meet up with a new character known as Mono. Joining on his journey, players will be going through new hazardous environments all while in an attempt to track down a mysterious broadcaster that is controlling a location known as the Black Tower. Much like the last installment, players must stay out of sight from the enemies point of view if they wish to survive.

#7 Hello Neighbor 2

In Hello Neighbor 2 players will be able to explore a large area of Raven Brooks rather than a single home from the first installment. It’s a game based around an investigation regarding the vanishing of certain residents of the neighborhood. However, it’s clear that something much more sinister is going on and you’ll have to think carefully to avoid getting caught by an even more advanced AI.

Outside of solving puzzles, the first game made players sit on the edge of their seats in hopes that they didn’t get caught and if they were unfortunate enough to become swept up by the antagonist, the game would force players into trying another means of exploring the home. As mentioned, I’m expecting more of this same style of gameplay mechanics to show up in this installment. Although you can enjoy an alpha version of this game right now while we wait for the full title release.

#6 Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights tell the story of the Batman family. It looks like we’re going to get a brand new unique storyline that wasn’t told previously where Batman is seemingly killed at the start of this game and it’s up to his fellow allies to keep Gotham City safe. Villains are sure to start spreading around Gotham now that the Dark Knight is out of the picture, but with that said, we will have the likes of Bat Girl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood, to keep the citizens safe from harm’s way.

Each character has a unique outlook and likely playstyle. For instance, we know that Robin prefers taking a stealth route keeping away from direct attention when possible. This is where players will be able to make use of status effects against the enemy.

#5 Horizon Forbidden West

After the massive success of Horizon Zero Dawn, it didn’t come as much surprise to see a sequel announcement. Within Horizon Forbidden West players will find a new larger world with iconic landmarks, new machines, and even tribes. It’s said that one of these tribes has been hostile and possesses the power to override machines making them useful in combat. While Aloy will have an upward battle against these new beasts and tribes, it also seems that there will be a greater threat that not only poses harm against machines but wildlife and mankind as well.

A virus has started to spread along with the land that is killing wildlife and crops. Furthermore, massive superstorms are erupting around the land which is threatening everything. Aloy is in for quite the challenge and, likely, the gameplay will mainly stay the same with this sequel. Players will use Aloy’s various skills to stay safe and deliver devastating attacks against the enemy. If you recall, the first game had a set of perks that you could unlock adding into the stealth techniques Aloy could use towards her advantage. With players going into new lands we’re bound to find more useful stealth gameplay mechanics to keep her safe.

#4 Deathloop

Deathloop is an action-adventure game where players take the role of an assassin named Colt. In this game, players are supposed to track down and take out eight particular targets scattered around the island. However, there is a time loop and after time runs out, players are yanked back into the start of the game all over again. Likewise, if your protagonist happens to die during the game, you’ll once again get tossed back to the starting point.

It’s a race against the clock and you’re gunning down all kinds of henchmen along the way. While players are planning out their attacks and taking out targets, it’s worth noting that there is one assassin on the island that only has to take out a single target, and that’s you. Named Julianna, players are forced into avoiding her as she attempts to gun you down. Knowing how your opponents move will play a big role in keeping away from the opponent’s attention as you assassinate your way through this title.

#3 Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2

While the original Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines released in 2004, it wouldn’t be until 2019 that we got word of a sequel installment. Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set in Seattle where the vampire factions and clans of the city have been at civil war. Players take on the role of a new fledgling and while this normally results in immediate execution, you managed to save your head during this mass chaos.

This is still an RPG experience with players not only able to customize and tweak their character stats, but you’ll have a variety of options on how you complete missions and how you handle conversations. Now the stealth in the first game was pretty basic and could use some tweaking but hopefully, the developers thought about this game when it comes to stealth. It seems like they have from the gameplay footage shown where we watched the protagonist use vents to their advantage and silently killing enemies with a melee weapon. However, we’re still having to wait for more gameplay footage to see just how far stealth goes in this game.

#2 The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

The Lord of the Rings is a huge franchise and one of the iconic characters is making a return with his own video game. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum title follows Gollum in a story-driven action-adventure title. This is coming from the development team Daedalic Entertainment, the folks who brought out games like State of Mind and the Deponia series.

From what we know so far is that this title will help tell more of Gollum’s backstory and if you’re familiar with the character then you know he’s not much of a fighter. Instead, Gollum has to use his cunning and stealth to get around in this world. I’m certainly interested in seeing just what this studio does for the character and a bit more insight into Gollum’s life.

#1 Hitman 3

Set to be the conclusion to the Hitman trilogy is Hitman 3. Players are once again stepping back into the role of Agent 47 where you’re still after a nefarious group. This is still very much a stealth game where Agent 47 will need to adapt to the scenery to keep attention at bay. If you played the Hitman games before then you know a large part of the gameplay is plotting out a strategy that keeps you away from the public eye and not drawing attention to yourself. This could even result in swapping outfits to get clearance into a restricted area.

From what we know Hitman 3’s level designs are going to feature quite a big playground for players to plot their assassinations. We already know that there are several countries you’ll be traveling to so the level details should be pretty varied. To top that off there is a PlayStation VR mode so you can get even more immersed into the world of Hitman 3 if you happen to have the equipment.
